Nikki Haley - Duta Besar Amerika untuk PBB

Nimrata "Nikki" Haley yang lahir 20 Januari 1972; umur 45 tahun adalah seorang politikus Amerika Serikat yang saat ini menjabat sebagai Duta Besar Amerika Serikat untuk PBB. Ia sebelumnya menjabat sebagai Gubernur Carolina Selatan dari Januari 2011 sampai Januari 2017. Sebelum masa jabatannya sebagai gubernur, Haley adalah anggota Dewan Perwakilan Carolina Selatan dari tahun 2005 sampai terpilih sebagai gubernur.

Haley adalah Gubernur wanita pertama Carolina Selatan dan gubernur kedua di Amerika Serikat yang memiliki garis keturunan India, setelah Bobby Jindal, yang juga berasal dari Partai Republik. Pada 2016, Haley masuk ke dalam daftar "100 Orang Paling Berpengaruh" menurut majalah Time. Pada 23 November 2016 Presiden terpilih Donald Trump mengumumkan niatnya untuk mencalonkan Haley menjadi Dubes AS untuk PBB. Pada 20 Januari 2017, Presiden Donald Trump mengirim nominasi Haley ke Senat Amerika Serikat.

Pada 24 Januari 2017, Haley dikonfirmasi dan disetujui oleh Senat untuk menjadi Duta Besar AS untuk PBB, dengan keputusan 96 senator setuju sementara 4 lainnya menolak. Empat senator yang menentang Haley adalah: Senator Bernie Sanders, Martin Heinrich, Tom Udall, dan Chris Coons.

Coons mengatakan bahwa ia menentang nominasi karena, "ia tidak meyakinkan saya bahwa ia mengerti dan merangkul prinsip-prinsip kebijakan luar negeri bahwa Amerika Serikat telah berjuang selama 70 tahun terakhir untuk melayani secara efektif sebagai duta besar AS untuk PBB." Tak lama kemudian, Haley mengundurkan diri sebagai Gubernur Carolina Selatan dan Wakil Gubernur Henry McMaster menggantikan dirinya sebagai Gubernur Carolina Selatan.

Nikki Nimrata Haley (born January 20, 1972) is the 29th and current United States Ambassador to the United Nations. She served as the 116th governor of South Carolina and is a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Haley was the first female governor of South Carolina and the second Indian American, after fellow Republican Bobby Jindal, to serve as a governor in the United States.

During the 2012 presidential campaign, Republican nominee Mitt Romney considered Haley as a potential vice presidential running mate, though Haley said that she would turn down any offer due to her position as governor. She delivered the official Republican response to President Barack Obama's 2016 State of the Union Address on January 12, 2016.

On November 23, 2016, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Haley for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, which Haley accepted. Haley was confirmed by the Senate in a 96–4 vote and was subsequently sworn in on January 25, 2017. In 2016, Haley was named among "The 100 Most Influential People" by Time magazine.

As Ambassador to the United Nations, Haley has affirmed the United States' willingness to use military force in response to further North Korea Missile tests in the wake of the 2017 North Korea crisis. Haley's tenure as Ambassador has been noted for its high degree of visibility, unusual for an Ambassador to the United Nations, with some outlets speculating on Haley as a potential future Secretary of State.
